| Please could someone help me as I am having a bit of a mental block over my new living room/dining room. I have painted two walls an olive green colour either side of what used to be a fire place, the rest of the room is basically white. The carpet is oatmeal and the sofa's are black. Any wood is oak. I originally was on the hunt for curtains to match the wall colour, but no such luck and I have now decided to go for a more neutral colour... could anyone suggest the colour that they would go for against the white walls? I need privacy as well so voile isn't really an option. Thanks!! | ||

| I think you should go for more of an statement:-), why not black velvet with nice patterns/texture but if that's a bit too much, just have black velvet at the bottom and the main part in a nice matching green colour as the walls? Keeping it neutral sounds lovely as well, maybe a creamy/beige colour in a silky fabric? Good luck!:-) | ||

Why not consider a linen mix, plain oatmeal in the main curtain with a green print on an oatmeal based fabric as the leading edge or contrast bottom border?
There is so many varying curtain designs available, the main thing is to get yourself a decent qualfied curtain designer that can put together a speciic personal design with your interior in mind. The design will take into many factors such as which curtain heading you choose, whether its a pole or a curtain track that you are hanging the curtains from. Attached image: |

Try choosing a curtain color that is at least one shade lighter or darker than the interior wall color. Choosing a complimentary shade will keep the curtains from blending into the walls. If possible, take paint swatches of your wall color with you to choose your curtains. This will ensure that the color curtains you choose will compliment your paint color, not blend or clash with it.
