Empty nest syndrome, heard of it? We had and dismissed it, never really thought about it ,,,until now!
Hmmmm,wallow in it or move on?
2 children all grown up, no longer hanging onto our every word. Accepting that our daughters were now independant enough go and explore the big wide world, find all those exciting moments fill thier heads with the memories that we all have, the new experiences we remember making as youngsters!
We, DH and I that is, were left standing in our much loved home. Walls' filled with the warm echoes of making happy memories with our 2 daughters, family and friends, oh and the dog!.
We stood , we looked, we listened to the calm that was now our home. We saw what we were once too busy to notice...........
It was drab! It was dated and we needed to rejuvinate, refresh our home, and take full advantage of what was in front of us. Enjoy planning, enjoy sourcing whats new, creating a new interior tha was just us, me and DH! It was a sudden realisation that it was now "Our time!" Our imaginations were ours to do what ever we wanted! Wooo hooo!
Both of us continually working hard at our own businesses, hubby constructing , myself creating beautiful interior soft furnishing creations for paying clients,but never ever finding enough time or engergy to create something special and inspiring for us!
Enough was enough..........we refused to wallow and decided to move on!
And so the renovations began..............................

Our builders John and Steve we have known forever, they are trusted old family friends. We had no hesitation in contacting them and they agreed to do the job and complete it within 6 working weeks!
We decided it that it was probably best to escape the dirt, the dust and rubble that was now taking over our home, so, we booked 10 days in Menorca and left the trusted builders to it!
To return to an amazing shell of the start of the construction that was to be..........we could'nt believe just how much work had been done in just 10 days while we had been away!
They had managed to leave the old kitchen in place so we had full utilities working. It was great! We were over the moon. The place was spotless ( within reason)draughty but also secure !
Next step.... second fixing!
